FLORIDA, USA - Now in its 2nd year running, the mission of the WideScreen Film & Music Video Festival taking place from March 24 - 27 is to, "Inspire the Creation and Distribution of Art, while ultimately "Enhancing the Creative Mind."

This season, the festival boasts of over 80 hours of content, submitted from nearly 60 countries across the globe. With such a vast amount of content, the Judges of WideScreen Festival 2016 are credited with raising the bar, as far as standards for quality and merit are concerned. They did just that and selected 92 projects to screen, out of hundreds of submissions from across the globe.

According to the young Bahamian festival founder and president, Jarrod A Knowles, “We see ourselves slowly but surely building up a solid reputation and coming to be known as the Sundance of South Florida. Our international Judges are properly briefed and provided with a rating standard, in order to effectively execute their task in selecting the cream of the very large crop.”

The following is the example of the email received by those who are officially selected to Screen at WideScreen Film & Music Video Festival:

On Behalf of the WideScreen Film & Music Video Festival Team, and its Elite Panel of Judges... CONGRATULATIONS! Your Project “Americano” [Tracking Number WSF2222] has been chosen to screen at this year's Festival (MAR 24 - 27, 2016) in Miami, FL. It is an honor, and you should certainly be proud of your accomplishment. Consider yourself the Cream of a very large Crop!

From its inauguration, The Judges of the WideScreen Festival have done well to maintain the standards and fulfill the mission of the festival. Each and every project is carefully considered and objectively rated to ensure that every filmmaker has their creative voice heard.

WideScreen Festival is happy to report that one of the films which it exclusively premiered on March 1, 2015, called Dancin It’s On by director David Winters, went on to achieve a Nationwide Theatrical Release last October on more than 1,100 Screens! Furthermore, the feature film Dancin’ It’s On was the recipient of 3 major awards at last year’s WideScreen Award Show at AMC Aventura Theatres taking, Best Director, Best Music Score, and Best Editing. The film is now available on DVD and Blu-ray and shipping Platinum!

Mr. David Winters, the legendary director himself, with over 60 years of experience in the entertainment business had this to say. "It is a film where I am going back to my roots… my passion: dancing. I am blessed to be doing a film with people who share the same passion. Eight stars in the film are grand prize winners of “Dancin with the Stars. Chehon Wesp-Tschopp won Best Dancer in America, and Russell Ferguson was the winner of Best Dancer in the World."  Winters lives in Thailand, but  said he came to America primarily for the purpose of making the film in sunny South Florida.

The aforementioned is evidence of the fine work and unique eye of a WideScreen Judge. They seek out the cream of the crop and have a track record of choosing the best, and most diverse slate of projects for our audiences.
