This is an exceptional animated film that handles ideas like racial bias and stereotyping in a way that teaches moral lessons accessible to all members of a family for every generation from children to parents to grandparents regardless of their level of life experience

Zootopia

Welcome To The Urban Jungle.

In a modern mammal metropolis made up of habitat neighborhoods a rookie police officer arrives and quickly discovers that being the first of her species to work law enforcement in the city is not easy. Determined to prove herself, she rushes headlong at the chance to crack a case and ends up partnering with a predator con artist to do so.

Officer Judy Hopps is a rabbit from Bunnyburrow who is the first of her kind to be appointed to the Zootopia Police Department and must prove she is more than a meter maid. Nicholas P. Wilde is a red fox who grew up in Zootopia and has become a small time scam artist with a cynical view of the city and the prey & predators that inhabit it. Chief Bogo is a cape buffalo who is the chief of the Zootopia Police Department’s 1st Precinct and not a fan of having his precinct being the one used to test the mettle of the first rabbit to graduate from the police academy. Dawn Bellwether is a sheep who is the assistant mayor of Zootopia and is closely watching Officer Hopps integration into the Zootopia Police Department to begin a campaign for more prey mammals to take on jobs usually held by predator mammals.

Zootopia blew me away with its thought-provoking message wrapped up in an anthropomorphic animated motion picture package. There are so many good things I can say about this film from the effective voice cast to the brilliant script or marvelous score and multi-level directing. This movie is very topical and is done in such a way with its fast paced humor that it is not preachy yet gets the point across to adults and children alike. The textured animation is a wonder to behold and gives a nod to the 2 D animated style of classic Disney cartoons. Make no mistake that this is an action comedy with crime drama undertones that takes its subject matter very seriously at times but is still aware that it must cater to a wide audience. Bryon Howard & Rich Moore with co-director Jared Bush do a great job bringing the screenplay by Bush & Phil Johnston to vibrant animated life. This exceptional movie deserves whatever success it gets and has earned any accolades it garners around the globe. A family film with heart and a moral that works for every generation of moviegoer. I had once rated this motion picture differently, but after watching it in a different medium for this present review I rate this film a rating of 4 & 1/2 out of 5.
