Nassau, Bahamas - Angelique
Sabrina is a mature, focused and determined thirteen year old, Bahamian,
singer/songwriter, who has loved music as long as she can remember. She has taken piano lessons from the age of
six, played recorder and flute in school, taken drum lessons with Kevin Dean
and, after picking up and teaching herself the guitar, she loved it so much
that she asked her parents to get formal training with Pat Carey of the Grammy
Award winning group, Baha Men.
Her
true passion, however, rests with singing.
She has loved singing as long as she can remember and says: “I
grew up around this passion, love and creativity for music…it’s something that
has been passed on to me mentally and genetically. It’s in my blood.”
At
the age of 8, Angelique entered herself and placed first runner-up in The
Little Miss Talented Bahamas, where she wrote, played and sang her first
original song, “I Will Shine Through”.
Even
at such a young age, Angelique Sabrina has written and recorded a number of
songs, namely: “Roller Coaster Ride”, “Pick on Me”, “The Booty Song”, “Silly
Dance” and, her newest release, “13”.
She is currently in the process of recording new original songs in
anticipation of releasing an album by the end of this year.
Angelique
is a Pop-style singer, with a flavor of the islands, and her songs range from
message-oriented ballads to fun dance songs.
The recent release of “13” -- a great
mother/daughter song about a 13-year-old girl asking her mum to guide her
through the journey of life - has gotten Angelique strong airplay on most of the Bahamian
radio stations such as Y98.7, Island FM, Gems, Star 106.5, Love 97 Nassau and
Freeport, ZNS 104.5, and two radio stations in Sydney, Australia, 2RDJ and
Triple H FM. She has done a number of
radio interviews as well as an interview for ZNS TV News.Additionally, she will be featured in an
upcoming edition of “Arise Bahamas”, a new teen newspaper, and on the home page
of local search engine, Bahamaslocal.com.
Her songwriting skill, which has caught the attention
of other seasoned veterans, has given her the opportunity to co-write with an
International singer/songwriter who is currently based in New York.
Angelique Sabrina is a student of St. Andrew’s High
School and is determined to continue to develop her career in music. She encourages her peers to “always do what
you love, follow your dreams, create your own resources, develop a support
system and ask for guidance because that is how you will get ahead in life.”
