Be Careful What You Search For...

The six-member crew of the International Space Station find themselves with the first solid evidence of life from another planet. They also find out, due to their research, that the new life form may be more dangerous than they had initially anticipated.

Dr. David Jordan is the American senior medical officer who has the record for the longest time in space. Dr. Miranda North is the British Quarantine Officer looking forward to returning to Earth. Sho Murakami is the Japanese pilot of the International Space Station with a pregnant wife on Earth. Hugh Derry is the British biologist who is finding the zero gravity situation liberating due to his inability to walk. Katerina Golovkina is the Russian commander of the International Space Station crew. Rory Adams is the American system engineer of the current crew.

Life is a science fiction horror film that misses its chance to tell us something new as it regurgitates trapped in space tropes. I was hoping for more from this movie, but got what I had seen before in other older productions with only a modern veneer that a larger budget brings. The talented cast is wasted as they seem to sleepwalk through the set pieces that are meant to give you a sense of claustrophobia. Daniel Espinosa directs a flick that is totally unoriginal from the screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick that is just a collection of B movie sci-fi clichés. The Calvin extraterrestrial was a mixed bag which sadly would have been more interesting if the rumor were true and it was an introduction to the Venom symbiote.
