You Know His Name...

A former operative for a covert organization is drawn out of the shadows when new information about his past is uncovered. To find the full extent of the truth, he must search the ranks of the organization which leads to a new conspiracy he unwittingly sowed the seeds for.

David Webb is the former CIA assassin known as Jason Bourne who disappeared after publicizing details of the CIA’s assassination programs but has come out of hiding to gain new info on his past. Heather Lee is the head of the CIA Cyber Ops Division who has made Bourne her priority after his former contact Nicolette Parsons hacks the CIA to gain classified files. The Asset is an assassin working for the current CIA assassination program after the previous program was exposed and he was collateral damage, but now he has the chance to get his revenge on those responsible. Robert Dewey is the current director of the CIA and head of the Iron Hand program who wants Webb taken down for exposing the Blackbriar program.

Jason Bourne is currently the most boring action movie you will have to sit through this year. If you have ever heard the expression skinny fat (thin with no muscle tone) then this movie is smart dumb (using buzz words without knowing the meaning) as it tries to convince you it is the thinking man’s action movie. I must express the fact that this motion picture has some great action scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat, but to get to them you have to sit through scenes that make you want to sleep. It was cool seeing Matt Damon and Julia Stiles playing David Webb & Nicky Parsons, yet it was bittersweet as the story they were a part of became a muddled mess of cliched spy movie dogma. Paul Greengrass does some good work directing the action in this movie, but it feels dated as it fails to build on the techniques he established in his last two Bourne flicks. This movie is a solid entry into the espionage genre, but falls flat on its face as an entry into the Bourne franchise.

I rate this movie a 2 out of 5.
