They Hired Him. They Betrayed Him. They’ll Pay...

The assassin thought dead has been forced to return to the life he left behind to complete an impossible list of assassinations. If he is not able to kill his targets in his signature way, it will mean the death of a woman who is working on humanitarian efforts for a small village.

Arthur Bishop is an assassin who faked his own death and has been living a comfortable life in Brazil until a person from his past has tasked him to kill competitors or reveal his secret. Mae runs a resort that Arthur has used as a safe house and is ready to help him at a moments notice when he is forced to return to a life of contract killing. Gina is an ex-military woman who has been doing humanitarian work until she is forced to be a pawn in an arms dealer’s revenge plan. Riah Crain is an arms dealer from Arthur’s past who blames him for leaving him in a bad situation and is now using him to kill his rivals out of revenge.

Mechanic: Resurrection is a waste of a good 99 minutes which could be spent doing anything else. The structure of this motion picture is just one of the many problems in this patchwork excuse for an action movie. This sequel to a remake is the perfect example for film makers of what not to do in every way, shape and form. Jason Statham, Jessica Alba, Tommy Lee Jones and Michelle Yeoh are all better than the material presented here and it feels like everyone in this was somehow blackmailed into participating. Dennis Gansel should probably direct straight to video movies as his attempt at directing this theatrical release was a train-wreck. Philip Shelby should probably stick to writing books as his effort at writing a screenplay with Tony Mosher was an outright piece of rubbish. I am genuinely annoyed that I had to sit through this garbage of bargain basement explosion effects and bad soft focus green screened scenery.

I rate this cinematic travesty a rating of 1/2 out of 5.
