Incredibles 2 An almost perfect companion to the original that improves on the representation on many levels.

Back To Work.

The mother of a super-powered family is chosen by a wealthy benefactor to change the public’s perception of superheroes in a bid to legalize them. When a new villain hatches a plot that could end the goodwill she has fostered, her family and friends must work together to make the world safe for powered & non-powered individuals.

Helen Parr is the former Elastigirl who has been selected to be used in a campaign to get the public behind the idea of a world with super-powered people legally helping keep it safe again. Bob Parr is the former Mr. Incredible who decides to stay home and take care of his children when he is not selected for the campaign and finds new parental challenges to overcome. Violet Parr is dealing with the fact that the boy she liked may have forgotten about her due to interference from a family friend. Dashiell ‘Dash’ Parr is trying to understand why his powers are not being utilized when he can help more. Jack-Jack Parr is trying to understand how to use his assortment of powers. Lucius Best is the former Frozone who introduces Bob & Helen to the wealthy benefactors with a vision to bring them out of the shadows and back into the spotlight. Winston and Evelyn Deavor run a telecommunications company and want to bring ‘supers’ back by revamping the public’s idea of them with a multi-tiered media campaign. Screenslaver is a genius who uses devices to hypnotize people into doing things with the goal of causing chaos to further an agenda to stop their dependence on technology.

Incredibles 2 is a fun summer movie that captures the feel of the first film with a good amount of action to rival any current blockbuster. This animated feature finds a balance of style and substance that makes it a wonder to behold in a way that makes you wonder why more live action movies are unable to reach its standard of storytelling. The computer generated images are on such a level that you feel like you are watching marionettes at certain points of the movie due to the level of detail in each frame. The voice talent is excellent as usual and this time around it was Catherine Keener, Phil LaMarr, Sophia Bush & Jonathan Banks who surprised me with their vocal performances for the characters they played in the production. Brad Bird does another great job of directing and writing even though the date for the theatrical release of the film was changed from June 21st, 2019 to June 15th, 2018. Michael Giacchino composes another fantastic score for this film which decides to double down on the retro futuristic feel in its presentation. Watching this animated motion picture brought to mind Thunderbirds Are Go, The Prisoner and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. I will admit that I was hoping for more nods to the video game The Incredibles : Rise of the Underminer but here is hoping they incorporate more of that in the third film. I rate this movie a rating of 4 1/2 out of 5.

P.S.
Remember to come early so you don’t miss the Pixar animated short film Boa that creatively touches on the subject of empty nest syndrome.
