A well written second season that takes us on a mature journey both unique and universal

After traveling abroad, A young man returns home to deal with the challenges that come with his personal and family life. With a new career opportunity on the horizon he must learn to navigate a complex relationship with someone he met during his time abroad.

Dev Shah is a commercial actor looking to become more after a stay in Italy learning to make pasta at a restaurant, but when the chance to host a baking contest show leads to better things he must decide if it is worth it. Arnold Baumheiser is a close friend of Dev who meets him in Italy to attend the wedding of his ex girlfriend and work through his feelings about not being in a relationship. Denise is Dev’s childhood friend who has had him by her side through some of the toughest revelations in her life and is always there to provide him with some grounded advice. Francesca is a friend Dev made in Italy who is visiting New York with her long term boyfriend and begins to form a bond after he shows her around the city.

Master of None continues its fresh take on subject matter in its second season that would usually be passed over in a less original romantic comedy series. The humor is well executed with a charm that makes you want to come back for more as we navigate the world with him through the situations he finds himself in thanks to the choices he made in the first season. The cast is a mixed bag as some of the obvious amateur performers are a bit more noticeable this time around, but the way each player is utilized from episode to episode leans considerably to success than to failure. This series has a unique voice that shows us just how universal many topics in life are and the way we handle them no matter our culture, creed, race or location.

I rate this season of the series a rating of 4 out of 5.
