The second season immerses us in the mythology of the creatures from the netherworld and the young people in our world who must fight against them. Stranger Things (Season 2) One of the taglines for this season of the series: It Only Gets Stranger. A year after odd events occurred in a small town, a small group of residents of varying ages with knowledge related to it must band together to combat greater threats from a parallel dimension. Eleven aka Jane is a young girl with growing psychokinetic powers she is still getting a grasp of while trying to learn more about her past as she stays hidden from those she loves for their own safety. Mike Wheeler, Lucas Sinclair & Dustin Henderson are best of friends navigating middle school with a secret that they have sworn to keep about where their close friend had really been when he had gone missing a year ago. Chief Jim Hopper must deal with an abnormal rotting of farmland in the area believed to be vandalism while maintaining a stable home-life for Eleven free of governmental intervention. Will Byers is the young boy still suffering from the side effects of his time in the Upside Down as he tries to reconnect with his 3 close friends along with his older brother, mother & his mother’s new boyfriend. Stranger Things Season 2 is an expansion of the world we were introduced to in the first season in every way, shape and form. The nine episodes that make up this new season are able to pack even more homages to classic films of that era from film makers such as John Carpenter, James Cameron & Joe Dante to name a few. It was great seeing Sean Astin & Paul Reiser added to the cast this season as they both played characters who were more than meets the eye as they surpassed expectations. Matt & Ross Duffer with Shawn Levy, Andrew Stanton and Rebecca Thomas direct episodes of this second season in truly superb fashion. The additional elements to the story this sophomore season helped to flesh out the authenticity of the events with characters like Maxine ‘Mad Max’ or Erica Sinclair to Kali ‘Eight’ or Murray Bauman. If there was anything I would have to complain about, it would be that since I know the excellence is expect there were no surprises in the high quality of storytelling this time around and also that no one called Kentucky Fried Chicken KFC in the 80s. I rate this season a rating of 4 & 1/2 out of 5. On Netflix Stranger Things (Season 2)
