Human. Nature.

A man of aristocratic blood who was raised in the jungles of the Congo is asked to return there under suspicious circumstances. While there he must find the power within himself to become what he has suppressed to save all he holds dear.

John Clayton III the Lord of Greystoke is the legendary Tarzan who was raised by the animals of the jungle until he was found and brought back to England, but now he must find his primal instinct to fight for his loved ones. Jane Porter Clayton is Lady Greystroke the wife of Tarzan with ties to America and the Congo where they met and fell in love. George Washington Williams is an entrepreneur from America and a veteran of the American Civil War who is investigating reports of tribes going missing in a certain region of Africa. Captain Léon Rom is a corrupt opportunist sent by King Leopold of Belgium to find diamonds to finance an army or mercenaries who will be used to take control of that portion of Africa.

I have watched many different versions of Tarzan and read some of the original stories by Edgar Rice Burroughs, so you can trust me when I say The Legend Of Tarzan is a well done take on the subject matter. The cast does a cool job of breathing life into these classic characters and the special effects make the animals’ movements so precise that you feel like they are talking to you without saying a word. Henry Braham’s cinematography captures the natural beauty of that part of Africa in such a way that you think that you are surrounded by the lush flora and fauna of the jungle. David Yates does a solid bit of directing in this motion picture with a nod to the old serials but with a modern view that keeps audiences invested in the plight of our heroes. I had a fun time experiencing this Summer movie extravaganza.

I rate this movie a 4 out 5.
