SEVEN DAY FORECAST FOR THE BAHAMAS

GENERAL SITUATION: A cold front will move through the Northwest Bahamas by tonight as a ridge of high pressure builds across The Bahamas and slides eastwards today.

Monday 6th – Increasing cloudiness with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorm in the Northwest Bahamas, mainly in the vicinity of the front. Whereas the Central & Southeast Bahamas can expect partly sunny, breezy and warm conditions with the chance of isolated showers today; fair, breezy and warm tonight. Maximum Temperature 86°F and Minimum Temperature 70°F. A Small Craft Advisory will come into effect later tonight for the Northwest islands and Small Craft Caution continues for the Central & Southeast Bahamas. Winds S – SW 10-15 knots, becoming Northerly 20-30 knots with higher gust near gale force conditions tonight, on the other hand winds E-SE 15-20 knots in the Central & Southeast Bahamas. Seas 2– 4 feet over the ocean in the Northwest Bahamas building 8-12 feet tonight with light to moderate southeasterly swells, and 4-7 feet in the Central & Southeast Bahamas.

Tuesday 7th – Partly cloudy, with a cold blast and windy across the Northwest Bahamas, with a chance of isolated showers; mostly cloudy with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the Central & Southeast Bahamas. Maximum Temperature 65°F and Minimum Temperature 50°F. Small Craft Advisory in effect for the Northwest Bahamas. Winds N-NE 15-25 knots in the Northwest & Central Bahamas and E 10-15 knots in the Southeast Bahamas. Seas 5-8 feet over the ocean with light to moderate southeasterly swells in the Northwest & Central Bahamas and 2-4 feet with light to moderate easterly swells in the Southeast Bahamas.

Wednesday 8th – Variable cloudiness with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly in the Southeast Bahamas at first becoming more scattered shower and isolated thunderstorms in the Northwest Bahamas later. Maximum Temperature 73°F and Minimum Temperature 57°F. Small Craft Advisory in effect. Winds NE-E 20 – 25 knots. Seas 7-10 feet over the ocean with light to moderate mix northerly and easterly swells in the Central & Southeast Bahamas.

Thursday 9th – Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and possible thunderstorm mainly in the vicinity of the extreme northern islands; elsewhere partly cloudy with isolated showers. Maximum Temperature 82°F and Minimum Temperature 70°F. Small Craft Caution in effect. Winds E-SE
15 – 20 knots. Seas 4-7 feet over the ocean in moderate easterly swells.

Friday 10th – Cloudy with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly in the vicinity of northwest islands including New Providence and partly sunny with isolated showers elsewhere. Maximum Temperature 82°F and Minimum Temperature 70°F. Small Craft Caution in effect. Winds E-SE 15-20 knots. Seas 4-6 feet over the ocean higher in moderate sea swells.

Saturday 11th – Partly cloudy with few brief showers; gradual improvement by late afternoon. Maximum Temperature 82°F and Minimum Temperature 70°F. Small Craft Caution is in effect Winds SE 15-20 knots in the Northwest & Central Bahamas, and E 15-20 knots in the Southeast Bahamas. Seas 4-6 feet over the ocean.

Sunday 12th – Partly sunny with the chance of showers. Maximum Temperature 82°F and Minimum Temperature 70°F. Small Craft Caution is in effect Winds SE 15-20 knots. Seas 4-6 feet over the ocean.
