Nassau, the Bahamas - news item on tropical storm Fred issued by the Bahamas department of meteorology forecast office section, at 6am Wednesday 2nd September 2015.

Fred is weakening over the eastern tropical Atlantic.

At 5am, the center of tropical storm Fred was located near latitude 19.5°north and longitude 30.1° west or about 470 miles west-northwest of the Cape Verde islands.

Tropical storm Fred is moving toward the west-northwest at 10 mph and this general motion is expected to continue with some decrease in forward speed during the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds are near 45 miles per hour mph with higher gusts. Additional weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Fred is expected to weaken to a tropical depression by this afternoon or tonight, and degenerate into a remnant low on Thursday.
