News item on Tropical Storm Harvey issued by the Bahamas Department Of Meteorology forecast office section, at 12pm Thursday 24th August 2017.

At 11:00pm EDT, the center of Tropical Storm Harvey was located near latitude 24.0° North and longitude 93.3° west or about 365 miles Southeast of Corpus Christi Texas.

Tropical Storm Harvey is moving toward the north-northwest at 10 mph.  A turn toward the northwest is expected later today, and Harvey's forward speed is forecast to slow down during the next couple of days.  On the forecast track, Harvey will approach the middle Texas coast on Friday and make landfall Friday night or early Saturday, and then stall near the middle Texas coast through the weekend.

Maximum sustained winds increased to near 65 miles per hour (mph) with higher gusts.  Rapid strengthening is forecast, and Harvey is expected to become a major hurricane before it reaches the middle Texas coast.

Harvey poses no threat to the Bahamas.
