If you felt really hot yesterday it was not just you because July 22nd was the hottest day for the year!

The highest maximum temperature was reported yesterday afternoon at 95°F or 34.8°C recorded in Nassau...This temperature is still not the hottest on record, the hottest temperature on record for the month of July is 96.8°F or 35.8°C recorded in 2005.

The reason for these record hot temperatures over the islands is the fact that the very light winds are from the south meaning the much warmer and humid air from the southern Caribbean Sea is being infused over The Bahamas instead of the normal NE'ly to E'ly trade winds which tends to be a bit 'cooler.'
