SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT FOR THE ENTIRE BAHAMAS ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY AT 9:30 AM EDT, SUNDAY 18TH OCTOBER 2020. 

A QUASI STATIONARY FRONT ACROSS THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS AND THE NORTHERN AXIS OF A TROPICAL WAVE WILL PRODUCE UNSETTLED WEATHER CONDITIONS OVER THE BAHAMAS RESULTING IN MODERATE TO HEAVY SHOWERS, STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS AND EXTENSIVE FLOODING IN LOW LYING AND FLOOD PRONE AREAS. 

RESIDENTS IN LOW LYING AND FLOOD PRONE AREAS SHOULD SEEK HIGHER GROUND AND MOTORISTS SHOULD EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WHILE TREVERSING FLOODED STREETS. 

SMALL CRAFT OPERATORS ARE ALSO ADVISED TO EXERCISE CAUTION FOR GUSTY WINDS, HIGHER SEAS, AND MODERATE TO LARGE SWELLS AND REDUCED VISIBILITY IN HEAVY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.
