The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning from 2:00 am EDT until 5:00 am Tuesday 30th June 2015.

A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for Andros and the Exumas but now includes New Providence, Eleuthera and Cat Island along with their adjacent waters and cays.

At 2:00 am observations, radar and satellite imagery showed organized thunderstorms over Andros the Exumas, New Providence, Eleuthera, Cat Island and their cays.

Some of these thunderstorms will be severe at times causing strong gusty winds, dangerous lightning, heavy downpours, hail and possible waterspout or tornadic activity.

Boaters in the warning area should seek safe harbour and residents in the warning area should stay indoors and away from windows when conditions worsen. Residents should not seek shelter under trees or in water as these can become lightning conductors.
