The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning from 5:25pm until 7:00pm Saturday 19th July 2014.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for the islands of New Providence, western Grand Bahama, North Eleuthera, North and Central Andros, Central Abaco and their adjacent wa
ters.

At 5:20pm observation, radar and satellite imagery show a cluster of thunderstorms associated with a surface and mid level trough affecting the mentioned islands.

Some of these thunderstorms will be severe at times causing strong gusty winds, dangerous lightning, heavy downpours, hail and possible waterspout or tornadic activity.

Boaters in the warning area should seek safe harbour and residents in the warning area should stay indoors and away from windows when conditions worsen. Residents should not seek shelter under trees or in water, as these can become lightning conductors.
