The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issued a
Severe Weather Warning with effect from 5:45 pm EDT until 7:45 pm Thursday 23rd April 2015.
A severe weather warning is in effect for
New Providence and it adjacent waters.
At 05:40pm a funnel cloud was observed over Lynden Pindling International Airport and as well as a recent waterspout was reported in the Clifton Pier area. This weather is associated with a stationary front across the Northwest and Central Bahamas that is producing unstable conditions in the area.
This instability could cause thunderstorms that will be severe at times, producing strong gusty winds, dangerous lightning, heavy downpours, hail and possible waterspout or tornadic activity. Localized flooding could occur in low lying and flood prone areas.
