Severe weather watch for Bimini, Grand Bahama, Abaco and their adjacent waters
NASSAU, The Bahamas - The Bahamas department of meteorology has issued a
severe thunderstorm watch from 8:00 pm until 10:00 pm, Saturday, March
29, 2014.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Bimini, Grand Bahama, Abaco and their adjacent waters.
At 7:45pm observation, radar and satellite imagery showed organized
cluster of showers and thunderstorms moving southeastward towards the
mentioned islands associated with pre-frontal activity over the area.
Some of these thunderstorms will likely be strong at times, causing
strong gusty winds, dangerous lightning, heavy downpours, possible small
hail and waterspout or tornadic activity.
Boaters in the warning
area should seek safe harbour and residents in the warning area should
stay indoors and away from windows when conditions worsen. Residents
should not seek shelter under trees or in water as these can become
lightening conductors.
