Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF)
announces their 7 celebrity guests to be honored during their 26th Annual
Event held
October 21 - November 11, 2011.
During the month-long event over 150 American Indie and World Cinema
films will be presented, encompassing features, documentaries and shorts
with over 100 special guests, both filmmaker and celebrity talent introduced
at screenings of their films.

PENELOPE ANN MILLER
Actress Penelope Ann Miller - best
remembered for her role in
Carlito's Way, Chaplin and Kindergarten
Cop - will receive a Career Achievement Award October 22nd, 7:00pm
at the Gala-Night screening of her new film,
The Artist, at Broward
College Campus' Bailey Hall. The Artist, an award-winner at this year's
Cannes Film Festival, takes you back to Hollywood 1927 and tells the
story of the interlinked destinies between a silent movie superstar
whose career is challenged by the advent of the talkies and a young
extra for whom major movie stardom awaits. In addition to Penelope
Ann Miller,
The Artist features an all-star cast including:
Jean Dujardin, Berenice Bejo, John Goodman, James Cromwell, Missi Pyle
and Malcolm McDowell. Miller will attend FLiFF's Starry Starry
Night Gala at the Signature Grand in Davie that night.

SENATOR GEORGE McGOVERN
The idealistic statesman, who came
to prominence during another time of war and bleak political division,
will receive a Lifetime Achievement in Humanity Award on October 22
at a special 4:00pm screening of the Oscar-winning film,
All The
President's Men, starring Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman.
McGovern, a supporter of liberal causes since the 1960's, has been the
United Nations Global Ambassador on World Hunger since 2001 and remains
an outspoken critic of the 2003 invasion and occupation of Iraq.
McGovern will do an audience Q&A after the film. The event
will be held at Bailey Hall on Broward College Campus.

Dennis Haysbert - Career Achievement Award

DENNIS HAYSBERT
The actor, best remembered for his
role in the Oscar nominated film
Far From Heaven as well as hit
TV series 24 and The Unit, will receive a Career Achievement Award during
an October 24, tribute at Cinema Paradiso. The award will be preceded
by a catered reception in his honor at the nearby 7th Street Wine Company
at 6:00pm followed by an onstage Actors Studio-style interview at 8:15pm.
Haysbert is also scheduled to attend the Starry, Starry Night Gala at
the Signature Grand in Davie on October 22.

Friday, October 28. The event begins with a ceremony at the Canal
House, located in Pelican Bay Resort, the Host Hotel for the festival. A
montage of Mr. Haysbert's career will screen followed by remarks by Mr.
Haysbert and a question and answer section. Then all in attendance will
adjourn to poolside where a reception
in Mr. Haysbert's honor will take place.)
LARRY MULLEN JR.
The rock musician, makes his acting
debut opposite Hollywood veteran Donald Sutherland in re-make of Patrick
Leconte’s scrumptiously literate 2002 crime drama
The
Man
on the Train. Tagged as FLiFF's Centerpiece Film,
The
Man on the Train will be screened November 1, 7:00pm at Cinema Paradiso
in Fort Lauderdale. Mullen will be presented with FLiFF's Star
on the Horizon Award and will take questions from the audience via a
live webcast Q&A. The event will be followed by the Centerpiece
Party at the Downtowner Saloon at 8:45pm.

Dennis Farina - Lifetime Achievement Award

DENNIS FARINA
The former Chicago police officer turned actor, gained popularity for
his role in the films
Get Shorty, Crime Story,
and
Midnight Run as well as TV series Law & Order and Miami
Vice. Farina will be presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award
at the 7:45pm, November 5 screening of his new film,
The Last Rites
of Joe May, at Cinema Paradiso. A pre-screening reception,
featuring an Antipasti buffet, will be held in his honor at 6:00pm.
A post-screening party will be held at Frankie and Johnny's.
In
The Last Rites of Joe May,
Farina stars as an aging, short money hustler who, despite a life of
loss and failure, has always believed that a glorious destiny awaited
him. Now in his sixties, his health failing and resources dwindling,
Joe is presented with one last shot at greatness.

Achievement Award at Cinema Paradiso, November 8 at a special 7:00pm
screening of THE GRASS HARP; an encore presentation from the 1995 Fort
Lauderdale International Film Festival and for which she earned FLiFF's
Best Actress Award. The audience will discover more about Ms. Laurie's
career and new book
Learning to Live Out Loud
during a Q&A moderated by notable film historian, Foster Hirsch.
Prior to the event and screening, at a 6:00pm reception, Laurie will
autograph copies
