Armed robbery in Caravel Beach, Grand Bahama

Freeport, The Bahamas - Police in Grand Bahama are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in the Caravel Beach area.

Reports are that on Friday 27th February 2015 shortly after 8:00am, police received a complaint that two males, one reportedly armed with a handgun, held up and robbed a business establishment in the Caravel Beach area of cash and other personal items before fleeing. Both males were described as standing at 6’2” tall, slim built, dark complexion and spoke in a Bahamian accent.

“GRAND BAHAMA POLICE ISLAND WIDE OPERATION “SNATCH BACK” YIELDING HUGE SUCCESS – GRAND BAHAMA”

In keeping with the Commissioner’s 2015 Policing Plan Priorities #1 “The Prevention and Detection of Crime” the Grand Bahama District under the command of Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. Emrick Seymour conducted an island wide operation dubbed “Snatch Back”, that was held on Friday 27th February 2015 between the hours of 4pm – 10pm. The island wide initiative yielded the following results:

- 157 persons were cited for various traffic offences

- 13 persons arrested on Outstanding Warrants of Arrest and Warrants of Committal

- 3 persons arrested for Immigration purposes

- 2 persons arrested for Possession of Dangerous Drugs with the intent to supply

- 1 person arrested for Possession of Dangerous Drugs

- 1 stolen vehicle recovered

- 1 male arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon and threats of death

- 4 persons arrested for Vagrancy
