Officers at the Police Traffic Division are turning up the heat on the streets of Grand Bahama.Yesterday, at 9:00am on Wednesday 8th February 2012, traffic cops were on the streets again and this time they were visible in the Lucaya area on East Sunrise Highway near Blenny Way and then on Seahorse Road near the Seahorse Shopping Plaza conducting road checks.
These road checks resulted in thirty-one (31) drivers being cited for various traffic infractions. The officers at the Traffic Division are continuing their efforts to minimize road accidents and they are encouraging the motoring public to slow down and drive within the speed limit.
As we approach the weekend, we (the police) are reminding motorists to obey all road signs and signals and they should refrain from driving while fatigued, using medication or while under the influence of alcohol.
TRAFFIC COPS INVESTIGATING AN ACCIDENT THAT LEFT TWO PERSONS HOSPITALIZED
An early morning traffic accident which occurred at 12:03am on Thursday 9th February 2012 on West Sunrise Highway in the area of Sunrise Sub Division has left two persons hospitalized, one listed in ‘serious’ condition.This accident occurred when a 35 year old male of North Bahamia was driving a green 2002 Ford Explorer west on West Sunrise Highway when his vehicle collided with a second vehicle, a blue 2007 Ford Focus-SD that was being driven east on West Sunrise highway by a 44 year old male of Explorers Way who was accompanied by a passenger, a 26 year old female of South Mall Drive.
The 44 year old male driver and his passenger were transported to the Rand Memorial where they were both detained. Meanwhile, the 35 year old male who was arrested by the police, is assisting the traffic cops in their investigations into this accident.
