Grand Bahama man in hospital after shooting incident involving police

Freeport, Bahamas -  Reports are that on Monday 3rd August 2015, shortly before 11:00pm, police were called to the Weddell Avenue area, where reports of gunshots were heard. Acting on information officers while in the Bruce Avenue area stopped a grey Ford Taurus with two male occupants, one of the males exited the vehicle and began to discharge gunshots at the officers who in fear of their life returned fire. This suspect made good his escape, however the driver of the vehicle was arrested by officers.

A short time later a 34 year old male was assisted to the Rand Memorial Hospital in a private vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach. He is listed in serious, but stable condition by doctor and is assisting police with their investigation into this matter.

Police are actively investigating.
