Police remove high powered weapon from streets of Grand Bahama

Grand Bahama, The Bahamas -  Shortly before 5:00pm this afternoon, Saturday 4th February, 2012, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit on Grand Bahama Island recovered a high-powered weapon and a quantity of ammunitions from the Adventurers Way area in Freeport.

At present, no arrest was made, however, investigations are being continued by officers from the Central Detective Unit.

EIGHT MILE ROCK DIVISION ON ROAD CHECK
A team of officers from the Eight Mile Rock Division were visible on the streets again at 6:30am on Friday 3rd February, 2012. This time the officers were on seen on Queens Highway in the area of the Holmes Rock Primary School engaged in a road check.

This event on Friday was the second in a matter of days and this time twenty-four (24) drivers were cited for various traffic infractions. The officers are sending a strong message to those persons who continuously ignore the speed limit and other road signs and signals.

We are encouraging the motoring public to drive within the speed limit and with due care and attention.
