Grand Bahama police remove unlicenced firearm from streets, arrest 1 male

Freeport, Bahamas - Police on Grand Bahama take another illegal firearm of the streets and a male is in custody.

According to reports at approximately 9:40pm on Saturday 24th January 2015 acting on information a team of officers was in the Coral Gardens area, Freeport, Grand Bahama. They approached a male, who was suspected of being in possession of an unlicenced firearm. The male upon seeing the officers produced a handgun and fired several shots at the officers. The officers were in fear for their life and returned fire and the suspect fled on foot. He was captured bythe officers and a handgun along with five (5) bullets was recovered. No one was hurt during the incident. The male is expected to be arraigned on gun charges before the Magistrate Court sometime this week.
