120 lbs of suspected cocaine discovered at Freeport Container Port

Freeport, Grand Bahama - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2016, Law Enforcement Officers in Grand Bahama on Thursday 18th August 2016 at 10:00am, went to the Freeport Container Port and conducted a search of a 40ft container where they discovered three duffle bags of suspected cocaine. No arrest was made in this matter. The drugs are estimated to weight 120 lbs. and has a street value of over two million dollars.

The second incident occurred around 5:15pm on the same date, Officers while at the Freeport Harbour saw a male acting suspicious who ran on seeing the officers, officers pursued the male in a bathroom where they discovered a white plastic bag of suspected cocaine. The male was arrested and taken into police custody.

The estimated weight of the suspected drugs is over a pound and has a street value of ten thousand dollars.

Investigations are continuing in these matters.

Police are also urging anyone who may have any information regarding any crime, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477)

Here are a few ways to prevent auto theft;

1. Install an Alarm System with a kill switch.

2. Completely close all windows

3. Never leave your vehicle running unattended.

4. Install a steering wheel lock device.

5. Park in well-lit location, avoid isolated areas.

6. Remove all valuables.
