RBPF Grand Bahama: Dangerous drugs arrest

Nassau, Bahamas - Assiduous work by Officers of the Rapid Response Unit and a team of Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, along with other Officers of the Uniform Branch, resulted in the arrest of (20) suspects for various offences throughout the Grand Bahama District.

Reports are that on Friday 27th July 2018, Officers of the Rapid Response Unit arrested (9) persons for various offences throughout Grand Bahama. Persons were arrested for outstanding warrants, Drug Possession and also wanted suspects who were wanted by police for various offences throughout the island of Grand Bahama.

On the same date, Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit also launched a special operation in the Touristic area of Grand Bahama, which targeted persons suspected of soliciting the sale of illegal drugs, unlicensed vendors and illegal water sports operators. (11) Persons were arrested and taken into police custody and are expected to be arraigned before the Magistrate Court early this week.

POSSESSION OF DANGEROUS DRUG ARREST – GRAND BAHAMA

Reports are that on Sunday 29th July 2018 shortly after 5:00pm, a 34 year old Jamaican national who resides in Florida U.S A, while at the Freeport Harbor presented himself for inspection at security check point, where it was discovered taped to his person (2) two taped packages of suspected cocaine. He was arrested and taken into police custody.

The weight of the suspected cocaine is (2) lbs. and the estimated street value is $14,000

Investigation is continuing in this matter.

  • Obey the speed limits and traffic signal lights
  • Be alert and ready to stop. Look out for people walking on the street, especially where there are no sidewalks

  • Do not overtake, stay in your lane.
  • Remember to slow down and drive for both you and others.
