Holiday Weekend Safety Tips by the Royal Bahamas Police Force

The Easter Holidays are here again and the Royal Bahamas Police Grand Bahama & the Northern Bahamas District would like to take this opportunity to advise the community at large to remember to take certain precautions while enjoying this holiday weekend.

The motoring public are advised to drive within the speed limit and to buckle up while traversing on the streets. Motorcyclist are also advised to wear their helmets. It is against the law to drink while driving.

Pedestrians are advised to use the pedestrian crossing when crossing the streets and joggers are reminded to wear reflected vest or bright colored clothing when jogging in the early mornings or at night and to always jog in groups (there is safety in numbers).
Beach goers are advised never to swim alone, designate someone as the look out or guard, especially where there are children swimming. Beachgoers are also advised not to leave their cell phones or other valuables on the beach while swimming.

Vehicle owners are also advised when leaving their vehicles parked, to exercise safety precautions and never leave valuables in vehicle and in plain view. Criminals are always on the lookout for crimes of opportunity especially during the holidays.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force will be in full force on our streets and on our waters/beaches during this holiday season. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Grand Bahama community and the Northern Bahamas by extension for their continued support.
