RBPF: Grand Bahama Police captures wanted fugitive and uncovers firearms

Freeport, Bahamas - Reports are that on Friday 17th May 2019, shortly before 4:00pm, a team of officers consisting of Rapid Response and Central Detective Unit officers, acting on intelligence and armed with a search warrant, went to a residence in Hawksbill, where they arrested wanted suspect Tavares Beckford aka “foe” who was wanted by the Central Detective Unit for Murder and Attempted Murder. A male occupant of that residence was also arrested for harbouring a criminal. Both men were taken into police custody.

Officers upon further search of the residence also uncovered a AR-15 rifle with (40) .40 rounds of ammunition, (13) .9mm rounds of ammunition, a black magazine with (42) .223 rounds of ammunition, a black scope, a quantity of suspected marijuana and (1) black colt .40 pistol with a clip containing (29) .40 rounds of ammunition. All items were taken into police custody.

ARMED ROBBERY SAFETY TIPS –
  • Personal safety first! money and merchandise are not important and can be replaced
  • Stay calm and don’t resist.
  • Do as instructed and don’t make sudden moves.
  • Keep your hands visible at all times.
  • Get a look at the robber if possible, but don’t stare.
  • Activate the alarm only when its safe to do so.
  • If possible, get a look at the robber’s vehicle and the direction travel.
  • Do not follow the robber
  • Install surveillance cameras and ensure that they are in working condition.
