On Feb 1, 2019, Jack Hayward Senior High School held its first official full blown Mr. & Ms. Jack Hayward Senior High School Talent Pageant and Coronation. This is the second year that JHSH embarked upon this venture. However, this is the first year that the school decided to upgrade to a full blown pageant. Pageant chairperson and Senior Mistress, Afrika Karamo-Miller stated her excited and delight in the interest and the improvement in the direction  and proclaimed that "we are excited to keep on growing and expanding." She expressed a deep gratitude to the co- director and choreographer, Darrol Stubbs for his patience, dedication and vision to move the pageant in and upward direction...

The proposed cruise ship mega port for Grand Bahama represents significant opportunities for the island’s economic recovery, said Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis as he addressed hundreds at the Carnival Cruise ‘Grand Port – The Road to 2021’ Information Meeting, at Foster B. Pestaina Centre, February 4, 2019.

“The economic revival of Grand Bahama is critical in the economic revival, and growth and expansion of The Bahamas economy,” he said.

The Prime Minister remarked that his government is very enthusiastic about the project.  And, he called on Grand Bahamians to prepare themselves for the potential economic benefits from additional cruise passengers and business ventures...

LRA Old Bahama Bay, Limited (OBB), the owners of the marina and other assets at Old Bahama Bay continue the process of transitioning the operation and ownership of their assets.  The OBB owners and representatives, like so many Grand Bahamians, have actively supported the significant efforts going into the future success of West End.

OBB has previously provided appropriate lease termination notice to its tenant, Island Ventures Resort and Club, Ltd. (IVRC), which has also been affirmed by the Bahamian Courts.  As of Monday, January 21st, 2019 OBB will temporarily close their marina operations, in order to make proper arrangements for a future operator...

A $1M dollar investment has been announced for East Grand Bahama.  The investment will be the first of a global network of coral farms capable of sustaining reefs for future generations. The Grand Bahama Development Company and the Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) have partnered with Coral Vita to bring this world class project to life, the public announcement, with a special Ground Breaking and Blessing of the project, was held on Thursday, November 29th in Eastern Lucaya.

American announced today that effective October 8, 2018 the airline will be going cashless at Freeport Grand Bahama International Airport (FPO).
