3rd Annual Burger King High School Speech Competition to be held November 26th

Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas - Burger King Freeport Restaurants have engaged in several Youth Initiatives, one of which is our Annual High School Speech Competitio n. The purpose of which is to provide a forum that is educational and rewarding for High School students.  

On Thursday November 26th, 2009, BK will host the 3rd Annual Burger King High School Speech Competition. The competition will be held at 6:30 pm at the Precious Acres Conference Room Queens Highway with fifteen (15) students participating representing 

  • St. George’s High School
  • G.B. Catholic High
  • Bishop Michael Eldon High School
  • Eight Mile Rock High School
  • Alpha & Omega Christian School
  • St. Paul’s College
  • Tabernacle Baptist Academy
  • Sunland Baptist Academy
 

The topic: “The Death Penalty, is it a Deterrent to Crime?’ 

The competition will be judged by Toastmaster International.  

This year promises to be even more exciting. In addition to the winner being named BK Teen Spokesperson and the three finalists receiving educational assistance, they will also represent the BK Debate Team at the 1st BK Youth and Community Debate.  

We are pleased to announce, that on Thursday January 7th, 2010, Burger King will host the 1st BK Youth and Community Debate. The purpose of which is to provide our students with a positive forum to have their voices heard on community issues. The Police Force Debate Team will compete against the Burger King Debate Team.  

The Resolution: “ Be it resolve, that the Death Penalty Is a Deterrent to Crime.” 

The Speech Competition is Thursday November 26 th , 2009 and the Debate against the Police Force is Thursday January 7 th , 2010.
