Deep Water Cay, Grand Bahama – Grand Bahama’s best-kept secret may not be so ‘hush-hush’ anymore thanks to last week’s visit from Tom Brokaw, Huey Lewis, Yvon Chouinard, Bill Klyn, and legendary fly-fisherman Bernard ‘Lefty’ Kreh.

Last week the Orion Production team, under the guidance of their CEO Chris Dorsey, flew into Deep Water Cay for a week of the world’s best bonefishing, deep-sea fishing, Junkanoo – hermit crab racing, and a little singing too! The team was back again to this premier boutique resort to film a portion of season six of “Buccaneers and Bones,” projected to air in America in early 2016 on the Discovery Channel.

The international celebrities were filmed during their visit to the oldest bonefishing lodge in The Bahamas at the far East End of GB, boasting high-end bonefishing, deep-sea fishing and SCUBA diving. As part of the series the celebs were filmed on their daily jaunts into the expansive and plentiful flats of East End, Grand Bahama.

“I’m at Deep Water Cay having the best bonefishing,” said Yvon Chouinard, President of Patagonia clothing line, based in California and specializing in outdoor wear. “This place is the best!” Chouinard went on that same day to catch a twelve-pound bonefish off the resort’s welcome dock and spent the rest of the week trying to beat his own record.

“It’s been an incredible time,” said Buzz Cox, Deep Water Cay Manager. “The celebs have been wonderful and so great with our staff and guides. We are excited to see how the show turns out and we’d love to welcome them back anytime.”

For Brokaw, this was his second visit to Deep Water Cay, and though his time was short, he fished all day and was involved in the early filming for the show. He was joined by newcomer Huey Lewis of the popular 80s band Huey Lewis and the News. Lewis dove into everything with gusto, enjoying Dennis Thomas’ melodic steel drum playing and coming in second in the final evening’s hermit crab races. Lewis also delighted the guests, local band ‘Wilfred Solomon Band’ and staff by joining lead singer Solomon on backup vocals for Shervin Tate, Deep Water Cay’s House Manager, Captain, Guide and keyboard player.

“We’ve been having a great year so far and our numbers are up from last year,” said Cox. “Our staff is working hard to take care of our guests and I hope that will show on the upcoming episode, as well as the beauty of this country.”
