GBPA / Grand Bahama Chamber partnership sparks Interest from Houston investors‏

HOUSTON TO FREEPORT: Delegation members of the Greater Houston Black Chamber of Commerce (GHBCC) are on island this week, to further discussions regarding investment interests in Freeport. GBPA & GBCC executives attended a GHBCC Luncheon while in Houston, last month for a Trade Mission with the Greater Houston Black Chamber of Commerce. Freeport, Grand Bahama - Delegation members of the Greater Houston Black "Chamber of Commerce (GHBCC) began arriving on island on Saturday past, to further discussions regarding investment interests in Freeport.   This visit comes on the heels of a recent Trade Mission to Houston comprised of executives of The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited (GBPA), and the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce (GBCC), back in early May.

“GBPA is delighted to co-host this visit by the GHBCC to Grand Bahama, in partnership with the GBCC,” commented President Rolle.

“There were a number of very promising discussions during our team’s visit to Houston, and I am told that this visit will seek to establish some firm opportunities with the interested parties,” he continued.

The visiting contingent is comprised of various investment sectors, including Real Estate Development, Manufacturing, Industrial Development and Training, as well as Niche Market Development.

Sr. Manager of Business Development and Invest Grand Bahama, Derek Newbold, represented GBPA’s interest during the recent Houston Trade Mission. Newbold says he is pleased to see the immediate reaction to the team’s efforts by GHBCC members who expressed interest in Freeport during the Houston Trade visit.

“While in Houston, we met with a number of business owners, most of whom expressed a keen interest in what Grand Bahama has to offer. Our business concierge team will certainly roll out the ‘Red Carpet’ for our guests, and ensure that they have only the best experience to share with persons that will travel during late July, as part of a second delegation,” cited Newbold.

“Based on areas of interest, there is a full itinerary planned, which comprises a slate of meetings with various stakeholders, including a meeting with the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville, Minister for Grand Bahama,” Newbold added.

Ms. Vernita Harris, past Chair of the GHBCC leads the visiting delegation, accompanied by Paul Cannings Jr., Managing Partner of RPH Group and 2nd Vice Chair of the GHBCC.
