GBPA & DEVCO Promoting Grand Bahama Island in L.A.

Promoting the best of The Bahamas: Executives of The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited (GBPA) accompanied a 6 member team of officials from the Bahamas Investment Authority (BIA), including Minister of State for Investment in the Ministry of Finance, the Hon. Khaalis Rolle, to the American Lodging & Investment Summit (ALIS) taking place in Los Angeles, California. Freeport, Grand Bahama Island – Executives at The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited (GBPA), are taking advantage of every opportunity to promote the benefits of Grand Bahama Island in 2013. This week, Ian Rolle, GBPA President, Mr. Graham Torode, CEO of the Grand Bahama Development Company (DEVCO) along with Mrs. Ginger Moxey, GBPA Vice President, accompanied a 6 member team of officials from the Bahamas Investment Authority, including Minister of State for Investment in the Ministry of Finance, the Hon. Khaalis Rolle to the American Lodging & Investment Summit (ALIS).

The Summit opened on Tuesday, 22nd January in Los Angeles, California and is said to be the largest hotel investment conference in the world, attracting more than 2000 major investment firms, hedge fund managers, hotel operators, and financiers.

President Rolle notes that the ALIS event provides a tremendous opportunity to promote Grand Bahama Island and its many benefits for business and leisure. “While Grand Bahama is a premier location for tourism activities, it’s more than a touristic destination. It is also ideal for executive education programs and corporate retreats, business conferences, and of course, major tourism or commercial development projects,” Rolle emphasized. “The island’s lifestyle and entertainment sectors are ripe with opportunity that simply needs to be tapped.” Rolle continued.

The summit will continue through Thursday, 24th January and offers attendees access to some of the most prominent brands in the lodging and resort development industry.  Platform speaker Min. the Hon. Khaalis Rolle, will address specifically existing investment opportunities within The Bahamas and its chain of islands.

As GBPA and DEVCO drive a concerted effort to promote Grand Bahama’s branding as a destination for both business and pleasure, CEO of DEVCO, Graham Torode explains that the city of Freeport is unrivaled in the region on so many levels.

“Grand Bahama is a jewel within the Bahamas. We have the amenities and the infrastructure; but more importantly, we off er a quality of life standard, that is unmatched.
