Freeport, Grand Bahama –The city of Freeport and by extension Grand Bahama Island continues to show good signs of recovery from the recent global economic recession and we at the Grand Bahama Port Authority remain unwavering in our efforts to put Grand Bahama top of its class.

GBPA’s current main areas of focus are:

1.To build on the foundations of the Hawksbill Creek Agreement while continuing to strengthen our relationship with the Government of the Bahamas, the Chamber of Commerce and all our licencees. Achieved this year,  the lifting of the 2013 Customs Regulations to promote new and existing investment.

2. To create new jobs by attracting international businesses while strategically working with our local licencees in expanding their existing businesses. One of many examples is the negotiated $300-$500 million expansion at the Freeport Container Port.

3. GBPA recently served as the key catalyst that led to the success of rolling back taxes that were being levied on Grand Bahama residents and businesses.

The Grand Bahama Port Authority has been working hand in hand with the Government of the Bahamas in assuring Freeport remains what it always was intended to be; a competitive Free Trade Zone.

We at the Grand Bahama Port Authority take great pride in working with our Licencees to improve the quality of life and enhance the ability to sustain a successful community for generations to come.
