Freeport, Grand Bahama Island – On Friday, February 17th, 2017 the Ministry of Tourism’s Religious Tourism Department welcomed 143 special guests to the Island of Grand Bahama, travelling on board the Carnival Elation, as a part of the 2017 Unique Sounds Music Group Gospel Fest Cruise.

Grand Bahama was the first stop for the contingent which consisted of seven diverse music groups.

Each of the groups staged exciting performances for the student body of Hugh Campbell Primary School.

Doug Jackson, group leader and CEO of Unique Sounds Music Group, based in Tallahassee, shared that once a year, the group travels to countries outside of America to minister, and this year’s destination of choice was Grand Bahama Island.

Dereck Stubbs, the group’s on-island liaison, expressed his gratitude to staff of the Ministry of Tourism, who assisted in the creation of an on-island experience for the group, inclusive of an island tour by Elite Travel and Tours.

He said that this was the group’s second visit to Grand Bahama Island but they had never been into the community to minister as they did this time.

Debbie Huyler, Manager for Religious Tourism, explained that as a result of the impression left on the group, the organizer, Doug Jackson, has committed to bringing in another group later this year, in addition to committing to returning in 2018 to continue the outreach to local schools.
