Grand Bahama to host investment and trade mission with Hubei, China

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - The stage is set for Grand Bahama Island to host an investment and trade mission of Hubei Province top level executives who are looking for investment and trade opportunities, with specific focus on business match-making opportunities with local Bahamian companies and entrepreneurs.

After an Advance Team visit hosted by Immerse Bahamas in early October 2015, the China Council for Promotion of International Trade [CCPIT) Sub-Council, Hubei have confirmed a trade mission to The Bahamas, as a part of their ‘Entering America’ initiative. Dubbed the ‘Investment & Trade Mission; Hubei China to The Bahamas’ [ITM Hubei China], this initiative is scheduled to take place from 29th November – 2nd December 2015, and will be led by Hubei Province Government Officials.  

With its industrial attributes, Grand Bahama Island was selected as the destination for ‘Match-Making Sessions’ on 30th November 2015, with businesses throughout The Bahamas.

The Government of The Bahamas, including the Ministry for Grand Bahama, The Bahamas Investment Authority, Ministry of Financial Services and Trade, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Marine Resources are working closely with partners for this historical initiative for The Bahamas.  Partners of ITM Hubei China include The Grand Bahama Port Authority, The Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce, The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers’ Confederation, and The Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board.

The Delegation will consist of executives from various Hubei enterprises with a mission to seek potential investment opportunities in The Bahamas and to promote bilateral trade, with representation in the areas of Agriculture; Light Industry; Pharmaceutical and Chemical Industry; High-Tech Industry; Mechanical Equipment; Urban Construction; Engineering Construction and Building Materials [including Property/Real Estate Development and Tourism]; Mineral Resources Exploration; and Automobile Industry.

During the Mission, a MOU will be signed to develop relations between CCPIT Hubei and the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce to promote economic, trade and technical cooperation.

The ‘Investment & Trade Mission; Hubei China to The Bahamas’ bodes well for trade and expansion opportunities for both Hubei China and The Bahamas, with endless possibilities.
