The
magic is returning at the Port Lucaya Marketplace (PLM) as several new
restaurants and retail businesses are scheduled to open in a few months.
Owners,
directors and management of Bourbon Street Limited (Port Lucaya
Marketplace) are pleased to announce that with the anticipated opening
of four new restaurants, the
Marketplace will turn your dining experience into a cornucopia of
delectable delicacies.
The
Marketplace eagerly awaits the opening of Molly Malone’s, an Irish
inspired restaurant that has proprietor Yvonne Morris drawing on her
Irish roots. This native of Belfast
Northern Ireland and resident of the Bahamas, along with her Bahamian
husband James Morris, promise that Molly Malone’s Irish Pub will be
serving traditional Irish dishes and beverages.
Patrons
wanting to take home a memento of Molly Malone’s will be able to choose
from their wide selection of T-shirts, sweatshirts and coffee mugs as
well as other logo items.
Molly Malone’s Irish pub’s atmosphere sells itself as a lively place
for Irish music, great food, moderately priced, cold beverages and
engaging conversation. Yvonne is well known to our repeat visitors to
Grand Bahama and residents, having spent many years
as the Manager of the former Shenanigans restaurant.
Our
second new eatery and entertainment attraction is Bateman’s Big Easy
Daiquiri Bar and Restaurant Café which will transform patrons to New
Orleans as the Mardi Gras concept
will echo from the brilliantly designed mural on the outside wall to
the enchanting atmosphere, coupled with the green, purple and gold
colours of the interior, will engulf your senses.
Bateman’s
Big Easy Daiquiri Bar and Restaurant Café will offer a unique blend of
fresh fruits daiquiris and smoothies, especially Bahamian sour sop,
guinep, sapodilla, mango,
banana and tamarind, sure to delight the taste buds of any pallet. If
persons are familiar with the “Wet Willies” or “Fat Tuesday’s” concepts
of daiquiri bars they will also love the Blues, Cajun and Jazz music and
enjoy the lively party atmosphere to be
created by Bateman and his team.
According
to proprietor Bateman Smith, he says the motto of the restaurant will
be “Yes is the answer”, as they strive for exemplary customer
satisfaction. Bateman’s Big Easy
Daiquiri Bar and Restaurant Café is a must for daiquiri, seafood lovers
and those desirous of experiencing the creole/Cajun flavour of New
Orleans. Regular bar beverages will also be available. The former
Shenanigans space will be split to accommodate Molly
Malone’s and Bateman’s Big Easy Daiquiri Bar and Restaurant Café.
A
new Caribbean/Bahamian restaurant tenant has been secured; a feature
story will also be released just as soon as the details of the character
of the proposed restaurant
are finalized. This new Caribbean/Bahamian Restaurant replaces
Caribbean Café.
Finally
lending to the eclectic mix of restaurants at the Marketplace,
restaurant chain Pizza Hut is also scheduled to open its doors soon.
Like its counterpart on the Mall,
this second Pizza Hut location will be family oriented, and is on the
waterfront. Pizza Hut will entice patrons with their new contemporary
design and wider selection of Italian menu that is sure to have
something to please every family member. Residents and
visitors will love the décor, great food at affordable prices and
phenomenal service at Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut replaces Pussers Pub.
“We
encourage you to pull up a chair and bon appetite, Port Lucaya
Marketplace, where we have it all!” says Karen Ferguson-Bain, PLM’s
Entertainment and Marketing Coordinator.
Coming
soon will be a new fashion boutique. The new owners are tweaking their
retailing concept and a release will be provided just as soon as they
are comfortable with their
new design tags.
