Freeport, Grand Bahama, September 16, 14: Answering a call for more diversified tours for our visitors on Grand Bahama, entrepreneur/birder H. Rudy Sawyer saw an opportunity for Eastern Grand Bahama.

Begun more than a year ago, this beautiful tour begins just where you want it to. Bluegreen Outdoor tours has a van that picks up tourists or interested persons from their hotel or the boat and takes them on a lovely journey through the eastern side of Grand Bahama to an office in McClean’s Town to get all bearings.

There are many birds on the way and host/tour guide Mr. Sawyer points them out all the way as he also gives a brief history of the country and the island.

Once all prepared for the beautiful walk, the tour guide takes you through a walking path along the shoreline of East Grand Bahama pointing out the various birds that are indigenous or visiting as he gives more information on this very old settlement in Grand Bahama.

The walk ends at Crabbing Bay and if you think you have had enough, this trip is not for you. The beautiful Crabbing Bay with crystal white sand on the beach is the launch pad for the next part of this tour, which takes the guests on kayaking over blue holes off the shore.

It’s a great work out for those used to just sitting at desks but it is sheer fun being out on the water bluegreen waters showing all the wide life in its transparent depth.

The guests are taken also through mangroves for more blue holes before retracing their steps back to the Bay for lunch.

The lunch is provided by vendors in the neighbouring settlement and promises to be great every time.

The real trouble is remembering all the beautiful birds seen at the end of the tour which has so much to offer.

This tour is not just for tourist so locals can also call up and book a tour to get to know your island more and its gorgeous surroundings.

This is a nature tour and does not intrude on the life around it; just simply enjoy it.
