The Hope Ball invites Grand Bahama community to free cancer lecture

Freeport, Bahamas - On Thursday, February 25th, the Hope Ball Committee presents a free lecture, open to the public by Dr. DuVaughn Curling, Oncology Consultants Bahamas, Nassau.  Agape House - A Call To Holiness Ministries will be hosting the workshop and it will take place at Agape House starting at 6:30pm.

"It is our continued effort to bring awareness to Cancer and to offer support to Cancer Survivors," said Pamela Ferguson, President, Hope Ball Committee. "With this we will host the first of many such lectures scheduled for Grand Bahama in 2016."

Dr. DuVaughn E. Curling graduated Cum Laude from Hampton University earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He then went on to Temple University School of Medicine where he earned his doctorate. After completing his medical degree, Dr. Curling completed his secondary training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Here Dr. Curling completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in hematology and oncology. Dr. Curling is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and oncology.

After completing his training in 2004, Dr. Curling returned to Nassau where he became a consultant in hematology and medical oncology with the Public Hospitals Authority (PHA). He also joined the practice of Oncology Consultants, Ltd., becoming a partner with Dr. Turnquest. Additionally, Dr. Curling obtained medical privileges at Doctors Hospital.

During his time as consultant at PHA, Dr. Curling has also been appointed Acting Director of the Division of Oncology. Additionally, Dr. Curling is very active with the Medical Association of the Bahamas.

As a primary investigator on several clinical trials in oncology, Dr. Curling is contributing to the advancement of cancer care not only in the Bahamas, but throughout the world. This is another example of the physicians at Oncology Consultants providing world class cancer care.

The Lecture promises to be informative and should be attended all persons especially persons with a known history of Cancer in their family.

This event is made possible through the continued support and encouragement of Family Guardian and partnership with Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support Group.
