In a letter dated, April 20th, 2016 Okyanos announced the acquisition to their 'patients, friends, and supporters' stating: As you may have seen from the recent press release dated April 14, 2016, Thorn Medical PLC has announced the acquisition of Okyanos Cell Therapy. In addition to ambitious plans to work with our team to help more patients reach Okyanos in Freeport, Grand Bahama, Thorn Medical has also recently obtained a full license to conduct stem cell research and therapy from the Bahamas’ National Stem Cell Ethics Committee (NSEC). Since the formation of Thorn Medical in 2014, it has maintained a focus on the development of innovative, scientifically-validated medical technology and healthcare services companies in an overall mission to improve healthcare options worldwide. Okyanos was founded in 2011 to bring stemcell therapy to patients who were chronically ill or otherwise suffering, and to help improve their quality of life.
