Freeport, Bahamas - After officially opening its doors in June 2015, at the First Commercial Centre on East Mall in Freeport, Grand Bahama, the Okyanos Cell Therapy clinic has been sold to Thorn Medical.

In a letter dated, April 20th, 2016 Okyanos announced the acquisition to their 'patients, friends, and supporters' stating:

As you may have seen from the recent press release dated April 14, 2016, Thorn Medical PLC has announced the acquisition of Okyanos Cell Therapy. In addition to ambitious plans to work with our team to help more patients reach Okyanos in Freeport, Grand Bahama, Thorn Medical has also recently obtained a full license to conduct stem cell research and therapy from the Bahamas’ National Stem Cell Ethics Committee (NSEC).

Since the formation of Thorn Medical in 2014, it has maintained a focus on the development of innovative, scientifically-validated medical technology and healthcare services companies in an overall mission to improve healthcare options worldwide.

Okyanos was founded in 2011 to bring stemcell therapy to patients who were chronically ill or otherwise suffering, and to help improve their quality of life. We have created the world’s leading, purpose-built cell therapy facility, selected a first class medical and administrative team, and most importantly have safely treated nearly 200 patients and achieved some truly remarkable outcomes.

Having made it a priority to provide leading edge technology and standards of safety and care to our patients, our goal is to achieve the best possible outcome for each life we touch. Thus, we are happy to announce to you and the medical and business communities that we are joining Thorn’s international healthcare group in an overall strategy to grow Okyanos and reach more patients.

Importantly, Thorn Medical and Okyanos share a common vision of making better healthcare options accessible to patients. Thorn is also committed to The Bahamas, and we are proud to join an international healthcare group with such an alignment of interests.

As stated by Jack Kaye, the Chief Executive at Thorn Medical: “Okyanos is a Cell Therapy Center of Excellence with a world-class medical and scientific team. They have already successfully treated nearly 200 patients, achieving remarkable outcomes and greatly improving their quality of life. We plan to leverage the state-of-the-art facilities and expert staff of Okyanos, to quickly become the leading adult stem cell therapy company in the Western world. We look forward to welcoming the Okyanos team to the group.”

We remain dedicated to the satisfaction of our patients and will continue to provide exemplary care and service. Thank you for your continued support.
