BTC Set to Open the Doors of New Pioneers Way Store

Freeport, Grand Bahama - Some 150 business leaders, government officials and VIPs are slated to attend the grand opening of BTC’s newly renovated retail space on Pioneers Way Friday, February 10 for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. The launch -- followed by a celebration for the general public starting at noon Saturday -- marks the culmination of a $200,000 transformation of the company's Grand Bahama administrative headquarters into what executives called "an unrivaled interactive retail store experience that will add immeasurably to Grand Bahama's attractiveness as a place to visit, live and do business."

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama – After more than a century of service, on January 14th the tall ship, Alexander Von Humboldt sailed out of her homeport of Bremerhaven, Germany for the last time and set course for the island of Grand Bahama with stops in the Canary Islands and Barbados. A large melancholy crowd of onlookers along with press, radio and television braved the cold winter morning to wave their last farewell to the “Green Lady” as she is fondly known.

Bahamas National Trust Re-opens Burial Mound and Ben’s Cave in Grand Bahama

Freeport, Grand Bahama – Just east of the industrial city of Freeport, Grand Bahama, lies two of The Bahamas’ protected caves and underwater caverns known as Ben’s Cave and Burial Mound. Thanks to generous donors to the Bahamas National Trust, these Lucayan National Park caves have received over $23,000 in structural upgrades and are now re-opened to the public.

Ben’s Cave is named after legendary local diver Ben Rose, who co-discovered a new species there in 1982. The centipede-like organism was found swimming in the underwater cavern systems and was officially called Remipedia (meaning: “oar foot”).
