Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated’s Freeport Chapter, Pi Upsilon Omega, is pleased to announce the slate of officers for the 2016 year.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is the oldest and first Greek-letter organization founded in 1908 by Black college educated women on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois; it is one of the world’s leading service organizations. The Sorority’s mission to “serve all mankind”, is achieved through a comprehensive array of programs and advocacy initiatives. It is comprised of a nucleus of more than 260,000 women in 975 graduate and undergraduate chapters in the United States, Germany, Japan, Liberia, Canada, South Korea, Bermuda, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and 2 chapters in The Bahamas: Pi Upsilon Omega on Freeport, Grand Bahama Island and Eta Psi Omega on Nassau, New Providence. Membership includes distinguished women who boast excellent academic records, proven leadership skills, and are involved in the global community through advocacy and service. Alpha Kappa Alpha has dedicated itself to improving the quality of life for citizens’ worldwide and promoting peace and continues to deliver on these mandates through its Grand Bahamian members.
