BTC Partners with Organizers of Dog Days ½ Marathon

New Partnership Equals Major Prize Giveaway for High School Runners - BTC has joined forces with event Organizers to promote healthy living and active lifestyles among young people. Freeport, Grand Bahama – Now in its third year, the Annual Dog Days Half Marathon has encouraged Runners from across the island of Grand Bahama to take to the streets in promotion of a more active lifestyle. Since the start, the initiative has also attracted marathon enthusiasts from around the world and has received tremendous support, with last year’s event attracting over 400 runners.

This year’s event slated for March 25, 2017 continues the tradition offering runners the opportunity to participate in the classic Half, 10K, 5K and One Mile Fun Run but also opened the event up to high school students and welcomed BTC as one of its major sponsors.

“We're excited to be partnering with BTC and how quickly they jumped on board,” explained organizer Nikki Waugh. “Especially as these prizes will go to the three runners in our school team relay challenge. It's a great opportunity for the kids to be involved and come out with a great prize.”

As has been the norm, this year’s event will focus on the major health benefits which can be derived from living an active lifestyle. Organizers of the event have continued to place the health and safety of its participants as the fore by ensuring that All races have numerous water stations set up throughout the course and EMS personnel are available.

As a corporate citizen BTC has made a point of supporting programs which contribute to the development of the country’s youth at all levels from the academic to physical well-being, therefore this new partnership made total sense.

“The idea of promoting a healthy lifestyle especially for young people and school aged children was really important to BTC. We pride ourselves on being the kind of corporate citizen that contributes the total development of our young people and that includes their health” explained Northern VP Eldri Ferguson-Mackey.

Each participating high school relay team will be comprised of three runners from the same school. Schools with the most accumulated points or miles will win bragging rights, a cash prize of $500.00 dollars as well as Samsung J1 Ace Cellphone for each team member courtesy of BTC.
