Grand Bahama, Bahamas – Paint Fair, a Bahamian owned and operated Company in Grand Bahama specializing in coatings since 1980, was recently presented with ‘Protective Coatings Caribbean Leader in Growth’ - a sales award for leading the Caribbean region in sales growth for distributors of International Paint, an industry leader of high performance coatings.

International Paint’s Mr. Martin Criado, Latin America Manager, Marine & Protective Coatings, and Mr. Steve Vickers, Regional Manager Caribbean, Protective Coatings Division, led a conference of Caribbean Distributors in Tampa, Florida, where Paint Fair representatives were presented with the unexpected award.

“We were thrilled to receive the award for the greatest sales growth among distributors for International Paint in the Caribbean-region covering countries from Trinidad & Tobago, Puerto Rico and Jamaica to Surinam, Dominican Republic and The Bahamas,” said Lesley Davies-Baptista, General Manager. “We have been working very hard at building our industrial business by gaining the confidence of our customers in such a technically specialized field. Our focus has been on not only meeting but exceeding industry standards in regards to training and technical experience and competitively offering industry-leading products with proven track records throughout The Bahamas,” she added.

While the business has specialized in residential and commercial coatings since 1980, Paint Fair began a special training and development programme approximately 8 years ago to sell and support the specialized, high performance industrial coatings required for corrosion and fire protection by industrial facilities and high value infrastructure.

“Certainly, this market segment has long been an anchor for business in Grand Bahama and it presented a unique opportunity for Paint Fair,” explained Mrs. Joan Davies, President, Paint Fair.

“These are specialty products and services that, traditionally, were always imported by contractors and facilities because they were not available here. We understood, however, it wasn’t a matter of simply supplying the products. It was critical to develop our technical support capacity to not only provide the industrial coatings but to also provide on island, and throughout The Bahamas, the support and service that such a specialized market demands,” she added.

As a result of this development training, Paint Fair today has a NACE-certified, field experienced Operations Manager who is able to work with engineers, project managers and maintenance crews on solutions for corrosion and fire protection (NACE – National Association of Corrosion Engineers).

“Eric Baptista is a Level 2, NACE certified Corrosion Inspector – who can travel virtually anywhere and provide technical support for tanks, pipes, high value infrastructure and other assets that require corrosion and fire protection. In addition, he has had field training experience and is equipped with field measurement tools to provide an unprecedented level of technical support – from a Bahamian Company – to anywhere in The Bahamas,” she added.

Mr. Eric Baptista, Operations Manager and NACE Level 2 corrosion inspector, explained that it was a combination of the training, experience and the partnership with an industry leader like International Paint that allowed Paint Fair to position itself among US and regional distributors. “During the past two years particularly since we launched our partnership with International Paint, we have been able to supply a wide range of products for projects – backed by the proven track records and technical support from industry leader, International Paint.

International Paint’s products deliver exceptional performance – on high value assets, tanks, pipes, bridges, stadiums, power plants and just about every other kind of infrastructure around the world in some of the harshest, most corrosive environments,” said Mr. Baptista. “So we have been able to combine our local, Bahamas-wide availability and support with a global leader in product innovation, dedicated technical support, specifications and performance. It is local access to global innovation and support – a combination that is ideal for our industrial customers who want to maximize the lifetime of their critical assets without the product waste or downtime that often comes with importing the products or bringing in technical support whenever a site visit is needed,” he added.

Paint Fair is located in the civic industrial sector in Grand Bahama, open Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 5:30pm and on Saturday, 8am to 5pm. Maintenance plans and site reviews are available by appointment by calling Eric Baptista at 242.352.9788 or by emailing eric.baptista@paintfair.net.
