President and CEO of Benchmark Consulting Services Billie Bowe recently served as a mentor to this year's debutante ball participants. During her presentation on career development, Mrs Bowe offered success principles to assist the debutantes and escorts with their transition from high school.

FREEPORT, THE BAHAMAS - As a teenage girl, Billie Bowe made her formal debut in society as a debutante, an experience she said has helped mold her into the business professional she is today. Recently, the entrepreneur had the opportunity to see her debutante journey go full circle, being invited to mentor this year's debutantes leading up to their formal presentation in May.

Mrs Bowe, president and CEO of Benchmark Consulting Services, recently spoke to debutantes and their escorts about career development and entrepreneurship. Through the presentation, she offered success principles to assist the teenagers with their transition from high school into college and the workforce. Mrs Bowe's speech was the first in a series of presentations the debutantes will experience prior to their unveiling at the 35th Annual Debutante Ball.

Debutante Ball Committee Chairman Kaylesa Simmons said it is customary for debutantes and escorts to undergo a four-month training programme before the official presentation. This programme includes courses on etiquette, communication and leadership skills, financial management and spiritual development. The goal, she said, is to present well-rounded, intelligent and poised individuals to the community.

Ms Simmons said the committee was thrilled to have Mrs Bowe speak to the group, noting that she is a "fantastic role model" for the debutantes.

"We invited Billie to lead one of the courses primarily because of her accomplishments to date," Ms Simmons said. "As a successful entrepreneur, motivational speaker and former debutante, we thought it would be wonderful for her to come in and share her experiences and wisdom with the group."

For Mrs Bowe, the invitation was an opportunity to give back to an organisation that was instrumental in her personal and professional development.

"Being a part of the debutante ball as a young teenager was a life changing experience," Mrs Bowe said. "The training I received as a debutante helped to mold me into a professional, elegant woman. It was an honour to be asked to speak at their first meeting for the year. It gave me an opportunity to share my successes and life experiences. It allowed me to share that my life long journey into adulthood started right where they are today."

Mrs Bowe expressed hopes that her presentation, along with others over the next four months, will inspire the debutantes to become productive members of society, who add value to their respective communities and industries.

The 35th Annual Debutante Ball will take place on May 14 at The Grand Lucayan Resort.
