FCP Employees walk to aid GB Kidney Assoc.

Freeport, Grand Bahama - The Freeport Container Port Employees Council 2nd Annual Fun Walk in support of the Grand Bahama Kidney Association attracted a large group of employees who were joined by a cross section of the corporate community for the 5 plus mile event this past Saturday.

Held under the theme: ‘Walking Hand-in-Hand towards a healthy lifestyle’, walkers began at 6:00 am at the airport round-a-bout and some, with children in carriages, completed a trek to the Ranfurly Circus and back.

WINNERS in the 2nd Annual FCP Fun Walk are pictured following the presentations. Employees from Freeport Container Port, Freeport Harbour Company, and Grand Bahama Airport Company were joined by participants from a cross section of the corporate community for the events which benefits the Grand Bahama Kidney Association.

President of the FCP Employee Council, Ivan Barnett, offered a prayer to begin the walk and noted the Council’s wish to assist and lend a helping hand to the many persons on Grand Bahama who are in need of dialysis treatment.

FCP Director, Godfrey Smith, who also enjoyed the early morning walk, expressed delight that “Health and safety awareness is paramount among employees; and, through their assistance to the Grand Bahama Kidney Association they are also assisting those on the island who are in need of the services provided by that organization”.

IN THE EARLY MORNING DARKNESS walkers prepare to get underway in the 2nd Annual Freeport container Port Employees Council’s Fun Walk. Participants made the 5 plus miles trek to the Ranfurly Circus and back, all to aid the Grand Bahama Kidney Association.

Winners in the various divisions of the walk are as follows:

OVERALL TOP FINISHERS WERE:

1st Place – Don Laing; 2nd Place – Cleveland Green; 3rd Place - Dereck Ferguson; 4th Place – Tamica Stubbs; and Final Finishers - Rena Duncombe and Alexis Thompson.

UNDER 17 DIVISION:

Ashley Colebrook, Female Winner, and Shavanno Munroe, Male Winner

26-35 DIVISION:

Females: 1st Place, Tamica Stubbs; 2nd Place Berlice Pintard, and 3rd Place, Carnetta McDonald.

Males: 1st Place Didier Rolle; 2nd Place, Nahshon Collie, and 3rd Place Andre Gibson

36-50 DIVISION:

Female: 1st Place, Lorna Rolle; 2nd Place, Joycelyn McIntosh, and 3rd Place Joye Waldron

Male: 1st place Don Laing; 2nd Place Dereck Ferguson; and 3rd Place Clifford Bowe.

51 & OVER:

Female: 1st Place Joan Fountain; 2nd Place, Paula Harris; and 3rd Place Sarah Rahming.

Male: 1st Place Cleveland Green; 2nd Place Herb Nesbitt; and 3rd Place Don Glass.
