Freeport, Bahamas – Executives of the Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited (GBPA) officially welcomed home the Tabernacle Baptist Christian Academy (TBCA) Falcons who captured the Hugh Campbell Invitational Basketball Championship for a second year in a row.

During a brief visit at the Port Authority headquarters on Tuesday, GBPA executives congratulated the group on their unprecedented sixth win in the tournament and presented them with personalized gifts.

“All of us in Grand Bahama are proud of our champions.  We are happy to present them with these gifts as a token of our appreciation and wish them continued success,” said Ian Rolle, GBPA President.  He also congratulated Falcon’s head coach, Norris Bain, on his achievement as the coach with the most Hugh Campbell wins.

Addressing the group, Rolle encouraged the basketball stand-outs to be disciplined.  “Your athletic prowess will help you achieve great things but discipline will take you far in life as a player, man, husband and father,” he urged.

Coach Bain extended thanks to GBPA for their ongoing support and generosity.  According to Bain, in the wake of the team’s success, he reflected on the reception they received after last year’s win and how this year’s title was bittersweet.

“In light of the recent loss of player Shaquille Anthony Hinds, our boys played with all their heart.  We won the game for Shaquille,” Coach Bain expressed.

The subdued yet jovial atmosphere during the courtesy call allowed the players to enjoy light refreshments and share some of their career goals.  Future job choices ranged from engineers and architects to computer management, heavy equipment operation and even the culinary arts.

GBPA presented the team with black and blue Citi Sports back packs, each engraved with a GBPA logo and the respective name of each recipient, along with numerous school supplies.
