Freeport, Bahamas - Thanks to the support of the Pelican Bay Hotel four Grand Bahama teens will attend Camp Up with People this summer.

15 year old Megan Turnquest, head girl from Sunland Baptist Academy; 16 year old Malike Moore of Bishop Michael Eldon High; 14 year old Morgan Allison of Lucaya International School; and 13 year old Luke Muthra of Sunland Baptist Academy have all been awarded scholarships and flights up to a 3-week camp which takes place in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, approximately two hours from Washington D.C.

Camp Up with People is a non-profit performing arts summer camp that brings together students from around the world to impact and inspire the community through service and song. Campers participate in various activities, service projects, and the trip culminates with an on-stage performance.

All those selected from Grand Bahama are no strangers to performing, as Luke, Malike and Megan are all members of the Grand Bahama Children's Choir, while Morgan has been involved in dance and the local theatre.

"Three of the children have already left and are at camp, while one has chosen the second camp date in August. Pelican Bay Hotel is pleased to be able to provide this opportunity and expand the horizons of local youth," said Magnus Alnebeck, General Manager.

Pelican Bay Hotel, Thayer's Natural Remedies,
the Grand Bahama Performing Arts Society , along with other groups, companies and individuals were also instrumental in sending three young adults off to travel internationally with Up with People. Rico Thompson, Sharade Taylor, and Donvarcia Duncombe are all presently in the United States with the group before they go off to Mexico and then the Philippines.
