Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - For the  past six years around Easter time the Garden of the Groves team has made preparations for the Grand Bahama community to enjoy a variety of activities during "Spring in the Garden". The event was enjoyed by the whole family, but especially children of all ages had a wonderful time! The activities began with Bunny Hop Sack Races organized by Marilyn Laing where the children were divided in age categories.

The talented Face Painting" artist, Lenisha Cooper, came prepared with her face painted appropriately as an Easter bunny! Her talent was appreciated by children and parents alike!

There were a variety of vendors in the Garden displaying tasty treats, jams, cotton candy and baked goods. In addition the Humane Society of Grand Bahama had set up its popular Flea Market with all proceeds benefiting the many dogs and cats at the shelter. Easter Treats were available from the creative "Sweet Affairs" team and the Humane Society of Grand Bahama operated its popular Flea Market.

Ponycart rides were conducted by Leo of "Trik Pony" with her trusty and patient horse "Wyatt". Children and parents were lining up for this popular ride along a shady trail in the Garden appropriately named "The Pony Trail".

And what would an Easter celebration be without the Easter Bunny who appreciated the cooler temperatures that day! Easter Bunny, Patrice Buzzi, was popular with the children as he handed out extra candy.

Although most of the activities focused on the children, the adults were able to enjoy a fashion show on the cafe deck while tasting delicious foods prepared by the Garden Cafe staff. Clothes were presented for ladies and gentlemen from Animale, Lana's closet end Portia Colebrook,s Designs. Angela Hackman gave informative and witty comments about fashions and models.

The highlight of the family Easter event was, without a doubt, the highly anticipated Easter Egg Hunt. This year's the "hunt" was divided into 6 different age categories to give even the little ones the opportunity to collect eggs in their especially designated area. Over 800 eggs had been left by the Easter Bunny throughout the Garden and the adjacent Shannon Golf Course and approximately 200 children participated in this activity.
